Jammin for Jarrod Event
May 08, 2012 (22:57:00)
Jarrod Brodnax is a six year veteran with the City of Mansfield Fire Department. Through those needs he responded to the needs of the community without fail. The Mansfield Firefighter’s Association is unfortunately and desperately reaching out for help from the community to help Jarrod and his family in their time of need. Jarrod was seriously injured on an EMS call approximately 18 months ago in which he put his pt’s safety ahead of his own. His successful efforts to prevent a patient from falling and being injured ironically caused Jarrod to be severely injured instead. This selfless act caused his life, and the life of his family to be forever changed.
Jarrod has undergone several surgeries and other treatments to repair the damage to his neck and back. His condition has yet to improve and has actually worsened, and it is uncertain if he will be able to return to the job he loves. He is faced with substantial medical bills and ongoing treatment/rehab. While undergoing treatment for the neck and back injuries, Jarrod was dealt another blow by being diagnosed with ALS, a debilitating disease more commonly known as Lou Gehrig ’s disease. His condition and his inability to work have created extreme hardship on his family. His wife Melissa is caring for their two daughters’, 3 year old Maryn and 6 month old Larkyn, as well as having the added responsibility of caring for her husband. Jarrod is unable to walk or to hold his daughters, and it is unclear if or when he will be able to return to work.
The Mansfield Firefighter’s Association 3599 is hosting a benefit concert in honor of Jarrod to help him and his family in their time of need. The event is co-hosted with Justin Frazell and his Red Dirt Road Show from radio station 95.9 the Ranch and Fat Daddy’s Mansfield. The date of the event is December 18, 2011 from 1pm until an undisclosed time and is being held at Fat Daddy’s Mansfield, located at 781 West Debbie Lane in Mansfield.
The MFFA will be selling t-shirts, provided complimentary by Gandy Ink. We will also be holding a silent auction and selling raffle tickets for various products and services to be given away at the end of the event. Live music and entertainment will be provided. There will be an optional cover charge at the door which will be donated to Jarrod and his family. If you are unable to attend the event monetary donations are being accepted via check made out to MFFA 3599 and mailed to the P.O. Box at the top of this page.
Sincerely,
David Smith Member
